Q: If I do Kundalini Yoga, do I still need to do other types of yoga?
A: Do what feels best to your body, mind, soul. Flow or vinyasa yoga is great because it deeply stretches the body, while focusing on breath and a quiet mind. Kundalini Yoga combines active sets of exercises (kriyas), with specific sound (chants and mantras), meditation, and breath. This yoga is done with the eyes closed for a very internal experience.
Q: If I am not in great shape, can I do Kundalini Yoga?
A: This practice is great for all people. You will do what your body can do, at your pace and depth. The guidance from the teacher is directed to all the participants, so you can make minor corrections in your practice. This is not about the perfect posture of asana. The time you spend in Kundalini Yoga will be geared to getting a greater level of depth, connection, and balance within ALL of you.
Q: Can a beginner do these workshops?
A: Yes, absolutely. Your instruction as to the kriyas will be guided throughout the workshop. You do what your body can do, and beyond what your mind thinks it can do.
Q: How do I prepare myself for one of these workshops?
A: With a willingness to go deeper within yourself, and the openness to redirect your mind when it gets in your way…you are ready!
Q: What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?
A: Yoga mat, water, wear light comfortable, moveable clothes, women will want to have bra support, meditation cushion or blanket to sit on if you need one.
